How HireSalt Ranks Resumes and Shows Its Reasoning
"A recruiter's view of ranked candidates, visible reasoning and adjustable weights"
Most recruiters meet the same problem at the start of a hiring round: a job description and a pile of resumes. Reading every one takes time, and the order in which people are read shapes who gets an interview. HireSalt is an AI resume screening tool that takes that step on. A recruiter uploads a job description and a set of resumes, and HireSalt ranks the candidates against that role.
A ranking alone is hard to trust. A recruiter needs to know why one person sits above another. HireSalt shows the reasoning behind every score, so the recruiter can read why each candidate ranks where they do and decide whether they agree.
This article describes how the scoring is organised, what the recruiter can adjust, what the Career Story adds, and how the pricing works. It is based on the product details supplied by the HireSalt team.
What a score is made of
HireSalt scores each candidate across 7 categories, which together hold 33 sub-criteria. Five categories carry weight in the score by default: Skills Match, Experience, Education, Semantic Fit, and Stability & Trajectory. Two more, Practicalities and Engagement Profile, are shown for context. They have no weight unless the recruiter gives them one. How HireSalt scores a resume walks through the categories in detail.
The weights are not fixed. A recruiter hiring for a role where hands-on skills matter most can raise Skills Match. A recruiter filling a role where a stable history matters can raise Stability & Trajectory. Because the weights are adjustable, the ranking reflects what the recruiter has decided the role needs.
- Skills Match, Experience, Education, Semantic Fit, and Stability & Trajectory: weighted by default.
- Practicalities and Engagement Profile: shown for context, no weight unless set by the recruiter.
- Every score comes with its reasoning, so the ranking can be checked rather than taken on trust.
HireSalt also offers Career Story, a narrative of each candidate's career timeline and trajectory. It helps a recruiter read a career as a sequence rather than a list of dates. It does not change the score.
Pricing and where it is built for
The first 50 resumes are free, and no card is needed to start. After that, one credit scores one resume. Credit packs never expire, and yearly plans give unlimited scoring. HireSalt is built for India first: prices are in INR and the site is hiresalt.in.
Mystum and HireSalt are related: both are run by the same owner.
